Foot Facts
Your feet directly impact the rest of your body and support you with each step. The average person takes 8,000 to 10,000 steps per day, which is approximately 115,000 miles (>4x the earth’s circumference) in a lifetime! Running increases the pressure on your feet 3-4x your body weight. Ankle, knee, hip, and back pain can all result from abnormal foot function or ill-fitting shoes! More than 75% of people will experience foot problems at some point in their life.
Gait Analysis
Dr. Cheryl determines an individuals need for orthotics based on a both a physical examination of the foot and a Computerized Gait Analysis, using technology from The Orthotic Group.
A gait analysis is a method of determining abnormalities in the manner in which one walks. It utilizes a force platform to measure the distribution of body weight while standing on the platform (static analysis) and also while walking across the platform (dynamic analysis). A computer then generates 2D and 3D images of this pressure distribution, representing your unique gait mechanics. The gait analysis also measures the duration your foot is in contact with the ground and where the centre of pressure lies in your foot throughout the gait cycle.
Using this information, expert laboratory technicians at The Orthotic Group construct an orthotic that is custom designed to your foot.
Orthotics
Orthotics are biomechanical appliances custom made for your specific foot imbalance(s). They fit inside your shoe as a comfortable insole and are designed to properly align your feet, thereby reducing strain on the remainder of your body.
They can be designed in a variety of styles to fit your lifestyle needs, whether for dress shoes, casual office wear, athletics, or safety shoes!
The Orthotic Group also offers several lines of quality brand name footwear to complement your orthotics.
Warranties
The Orthotic Group includes 3 warranties with all their custom orthotics:
1.) Patient compliance warranty for first 90 days;
2.) Workmanship warranty for 6 months; and
3.) Lifetime warranty on the plastic.
The Orthotic Group now offers an additional optional warranty (Total Orthotic Coverage) for a small fee, that is valid for 2 years. This warranty includes:
Outgrowth Program: one FREE replacement orthotic for children under the age of 18 who out-grow their orthotics
Maintenance Program: covers all additions or modifications that my be necessary to repair or make your orthotics a perfect customized fit; one replacement pair of orthotics if there is irreparable damage to your existing orthotic
Replacement Program: a replacement orthotic in the event of a lost or stolen orthotic for a fee of only $50.
